LITTLE RED SCHOOLHOUSE ~ CROOK COUNTY, WYOMING

HISTORIC PRESERVATION of the LITTLE RED SCHOOLHOUSE currently located on the fair grounds in Sundance. It was saved from demolition by 3 days for the fair board and now is in danger of extinction by fire if not relocated by June 15. It is time to give this little mover a permanent home! It started in Aladdin, went to Sunny Divide, and then to its current location. The non-profit,  Devils Tower-Sacred To Many People has acquired it and the goal is to relocate it and do a full restoration of the building on a permanent foundation in tranquil setting on Tower Divide. The Little Red Schoolhouse will then be used as a local historic marker, a Local Arts & Native American Children demonstration hall and this restored historic building open to the public.

Excess funds shall be carried over to next phase, any excess at the end of the project will be for future upkeep, maintenance or repairs on this structure. Funds are maintained in a special account specific for this project. We are seeking local service area and county-wide funds, materials and labor. However we are aware some services cannot be performed by resident businesses.

Recognition for your generous contribution:

We are planning the “Standard School Recess” at the site for our generous benefactors, photographs and a news press write-up. We hope to continue an annual tradition of “Standard School Recess” for future fund raising for this structure.

Upon full completion a ribbon ceremony with public invites, silent auction and bake sale with a news press write up of the great accomplishment of our Benefactor Businesses. A placard of recognition will be placed at the building. Funds raised at this event will be for continued maintenance and upkeep of the Little Red Schoolhouse, as well as Sacred’s mission of assisting currently running programs on Reservations that need a little assistance.
