The northern panhandle is largely influenced by Spokane Washington both commercially and culturally. The states industry is lumber and wood, chemical products, paper products and silver mining.

Like many of the mountain states around its borders, it shares Yellowstone. Idaho is rich in Indian history, Nez Perce, Fossil beds and Craters of the Moon.
